13 Best Ways To Enjoy Nutella
Peanut Butter and Nutella Sandwich (With or Without Banana)
A peanut butter and Nutella sandwich is a classic breakfast staple or afternoon snack. Simply spread a thin layer of Nutella on one slice of bread, peanut butter on the other piece, and then top with sliced banana. You can eat this treat cold or grill it if you want for a hot and melty snack! It’s a simple and quick bite that instantly feels satisfying.
As A Fruit Dip
A healthier option for consuming Nutella is by using it as a fruit dip! Nothing balances the rich thickness of Nutella like fresh fruit. It goes well with strawberries, bananas, kiwis, blueberries, and many others. This is one of my favorites because it’s just so easy.
Create a fruit platter featuring your favorite sliced fruit and then place a jar of Nutella in the center to use as the dip. Room temperature Nutella is perfect for spreading on apple or banana slices but if you want to dip or drizzle, briefly warm the Nutella in the microwave first.
If you want to go a little more decadent, you could also include small bowls with things to dip Nutella covered fruit in – like chopped nuts, mini chocolate chips or sprinkles. If you want to provide a healthier option, add celery sticks or mini pretzels.
This is the perfect snack to prepare for groups of people.
Nutella Overnight Oats
This is another breakfast idea for Nutella fans that’s also perfect for those who meal prep. All you need to do is mix the oats, Nutella, and the milk of your choice together until smooth. Add to a ready-to-go container and refrigerate overnight. You can add additional toppings you like as well, such as chia seeds, coconut flakes or chopped nuts.
Nutella Doughnuts
Nutella doughnuts are a delicious snack that’s surprisingly easy to make if you use canned biscuit dough. Fry each donut until golden brown, fill them with at least two tablespoons of Nutella, and sprinkle with powered sugar or any other topping you want (cinnamon sugar would be tasty)! Nutella Crescent Rolls
Nutella crescent rolls are similar to Nutella doughnuts but instead of using canned biscuit dough you use canned crescent rolls. Simply spread each crescent roll with Nutella, roll up, and bake.
Nutella Pizza
This is a fun twist on crepes or using Nutella as a fruit dip. Make a sweet pizza by using Nutella as the “sauce” on a sugar cookie “pizza dough crust” and your favorite sliced fruits as toppings.
Nutella French Toast (Waffles, Pancakes or Crepes)
Start your day in the most delicious way possible by combining Nutella with breakfast favorites like French toast. If making stuffed French toast, add Nutella to the filling. A simpler way to enjoy Nutella is to spread it on French toast, waffles, pancakes or crepes. You could warm a couple spoonfuls of Nutella in the microwave to make the spreading process easier. Nutella on a hot fresh crepe is one of my favorite German Christmas market treats.
Nutella Crepes Cake
If you like crepes and Nutella, you’ll love Nutella Crepe Cake. And how easy it is to make. First, make a stack of fresh crepes. Place a cooled crepe on a plate, spread Nutella on the crepe, and top with another crepe. Repeat until you’ve used all of the crepes. You can use this crepes cake recipe but use Nutella for the filling.
Nutella Ice Cream
Did you know you can make single-serve, no-churn ice cream without a machine? And the best thing is you can make it Nutella flavored!
All you need is heavy cream, Nutella, roasted and chopped hazelnuts, and salt. It’s such an easy and delicious concoction that only takes a couple minutes to prepare. It’s the perfect summer treat. Click here for a full step-by-step recipe on how to make Nutella ice cream.
Nutella Topping For Ice Cream
For another refreshing cold treat on a hot summer day, use Nutella as a topping on your favorite ice cream. Instead of using hot fudge or chocolate syrup, you can melt Nutella and drizzle it over any flavor of ice cream you want. So easy!
If you’d prefer to be a little healthier, drizzle melted Nutella over frozen yogurt or healthier Greek yogurt. To make it even tastier, top with chopped hazelnuts for crunch.
Nutella Hot Chocolate
Spice up your traditional hot chocolate by using Nutella instead of cocoa powder. Simply heat milk and Nutella in a saucepan until hot, smooth, and blended. Top with whipped cream, mini marshmallows, crushed nuts, sprinkles or any other topping of your choice.
Quick Nutella Chocolate Drink
Craving Nutella hot chocolate but it’s not cold enough to warrant a hot drink? If you’ve got an almost empty jar of Nutella, simply pour milk into the jar, scrape down the side, put the lid on, and shake vigorously for a quick and tasty drink.
Nutella Baguette
If you want to switch up the usual Nutella on toast, then you can’t go wrong with using any other kind of bread. Baguettes or mini baguettes are a great option to spread Nutella on. For some added flavor you can sprinkle sea salt or add thin slices of apple or banana.
What Is Nutella?
Nutella is a chocolate-hazelnut spread made by the Italian brand Ferrero, the second biggest chocolate producer and confectionery company in the world. It was first introduced in 1964. The main ingredients of Nutella are sugar, palm oil, hazelnut, cocoa solids, and skim milk.
Many people around the world consume Nutella for breakfast on toast, waffles, crepes or pancakes. It’s also a great ingredient to add to desserts and snack foods like cookies, brownies, cakes, donuts, hot chocolate, and even ice cream.
Most Nutella lovers have a favorite way of enjoying Nutella. Some (like me) just eat a spoonful right out of the jar. I also love it slathered on a fresh crusty baguette or drizzled on fresh fruit.
Can You Make Nutella At Home?
Yes! You can definitely make Nutella at home if you don’t want to buy it at the store or if you’re looking for a healthier option.
It’s fairly easy to make. You only need a handful of ingredients and 15 minutes to make a homemade version of this delicious chocolate spread.
The ingredients you need are: raw whole hazelnuts, chocolate (or chocolate chips), oil, cocoa powder, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and salt.
The steps to make homemade Nutella involve roasting the hazelnuts and grinding them in a food processor, melting the chocolate, and mixing all of the ingredients together.

Why Make Homemade Nutella?
For dedicated Nutella fans, nothing will taste quite the same as the original jarred Nutella but there are benefits to making a homemade version. I keep a jar of Nutella in my pantry but I also like making the homemade version.
The benefit of making Nutella from scratch is that you control what goes in it. For example, if you’re vegan, you can use vegan chocolate. If you find store-bought Nutella too sweet, you can use dark chocolate or use less sugar in your version. You can also control the thickness of of the Nutella you make in your home kitchen.
Since you’re in control of the recipe, it’ll also be easier to make your version of Nutella slightly healthier than the original. Scoop some homemade Nutella into small mason jars, add a pretty dessert spoon, and you’ve got a delicious gift.
Is Nutella Heathy?
Even though it was often marketed as a quick and simple way to make breakfast tasty and kid-friendly, Nutella is not something you would consider a healthy snack due to the high amounts of sugar. Nutella is more of a sweet treat to be indulged once in a while as a dessert not a staple of your weekly meal plan – no matter how addicting it may be!
If you want a healthier spread, then try making your own homemade Nutella.
